The Sparta lever is a clean, contemporary horizontal lever design. Unlike the Rhodes Tactile lever (03-200-8RO), the Sparta Tactile lever does not have a break-away option. The break-away feature in the Schlage ND and ALX Series is exclusive to the Rhodes lever design. If a project requires both the tactile warning feature and the break-away lever feature on the same door, the 03-200-8RO is the only lever in the tactile category that accommodates both. When the tactile feature is required but break-away is not a specification requirement, any of the four tactile designs (8AT, 8RO, 8SP, 8TR) is appropriate depending on the project's lever profile standard.

The Sparta design is in the group of levers that use the Rhodes Rose. The 03-200-8SP ships without an SFIC core installed. The lever housing accepts a Schlage SFIC core or compatible SFIC cores from the facility's existing key system. The SFIC core is ordered separately by the facility's key system manager and installed using the control key, with no tools or lever disassembly required. This maintains key system control within the facility rather than pre-installing cores at the hardware supplier.
