The Omega Lever: The Only Lever in the Catalog With No Tactile Variant

The Schlage ND and ALX Series offer tactile variants for four of the five standard SFIC lever designs: Athens (8AT), Rhodes (8RO), Sparta (8SP), and Tubular (8TR). The Omega lever is the single exception. No tactile Omega lever exists in the Schlage ND or ALX Series catalog. There is no 8OME part number. When a project specification requires both the Omega lever design and a tactile warning surface at a specific door, those two requirements cannot be met simultaneously with a Schlage OEM lever. A different lever design must be specified for the door requiring the tactile designation, or the Omega specification must be revised for that door.

This is a specification decision point that matters when a facility has established an Omega lever standard throughout a building and needs to meet IBC or ADAAG tactile requirements at select doors. The other four lever designs (Athens, Rhodes, Sparta, Tubular) each offer a tactile version in the 03-200 SFIC family. Only the Omega does not.

Schlage 03-200-OME: The Omega Rose Pairing Requirement

The Omega lever is the only lever in the Schlage ALX and ND Series catalog that uses a dedicated, design-specific rose. The official Schlage ALX Series Service Manual states: "03-042 OME inside/outside rose for Omega lever" and separately, "03-042 RHO inside/outside rose for all levers except Omega." Every other lever design in the catalog (Athens, Rhodes, Sparta, Tubular, and all their tactile variants) uses the 03-042-RHO. The Omega lever (03-200-OME) exclusively requires the 03-042-OME Omega Rose on both inside and outside trim positions.

This pairing requirement affects two ordering decisions. First, when ordering the 03-200-OME lever, the 03-042-OME rose must also be ordered separately in the matching finish. Second, the ALX Series Service Manual confirms that the Omega rose is not available with the ALX chassis kit (ALX CK). The chassis kit includes two Rhodes roses as standard. When replacing a complete Omega trim assembly, both the 03-200-OME lever and the 03-042-OME roses must be sourced individually, not from the chassis kit.

Schlage 03-200-OME vs 03-200-ATH: No NDE Series Coverage

The 03-200-ATH Athens SFIC Lever is documented in five Service Manuals including the Schlage NDE Series Parts Manual, confirming its application in NDE exit device outside trim assemblies. The 03-200-OME Omega SFIC Lever is documented in four Service Manuals, and the NDE Series is not among them. The Omega lever is not available in NDE exit device trim configurations.

The 03-300-OME legacy part number (for exit device applications pre-February 2017) represents historical Omega lever exit device trim usage. The 03-200-OME supersedes 03-300-OME as the current part number, but the NDE Series (the current Schlage electronic exit device with outside trim) does not accept the Omega lever as outside trim. If an older installation used a 03-300-OME Omega lever on an exit device trim, the 03-200-OME is the current ordering path for that same lever, regardless of the NDE Series exclusion.
