The 03-231-SPA is the standard Sparta KIL lever with a smooth handle surface. The 03-231-8SP is the tactile version with a raised textured handle surface for hazardous area door identification. Both use the Sparta lever profile and the KIL cylinder format. The 03-231-SPA is the correct selection for all standard Sparta KIL lever positions in a project. The 03-231-8SP applies only at doors where the tactile designation was originally specified. When sourcing a replacement lever, confirm the original specification before ordering to prevent a mismatched trim assembly.
