The 03-231-TLR replaces three legacy part numbers, as confirmed on the SecurityParts.com product page. Each covered a specific installation type before the current 03-231 prefix system was introduced.

• 03-031-TLR: Original part number for cylindrical lock outside trim positions using the Tubular KIL lever.
• 09-331-TLR: Original part number for mortise lock trim applications. The 09 prefix in the legacy Schlage system identified mortise trim levers. Any specification or maintenance record listing 09-331-TLR is currently serviced with the 03-231-TLR.
• 03-331-TLR: Original part number for exit device outside trim applications using the Tubular KIL lever. Any work order referencing 03-331-TLR is currently serviced with the 03-231-TLR.

All three legacy Tubular KIL lever configurations are served by one current part number regardless of the original installation type.

Standard vs Tactile: 03-231-TLR vs 03-231-8TR

The 03-231-TLR is the standard Tubular KIL lever with a smooth round handle surface. The 03-231-8TR is the tactile version with a raised texture applied around the full circumference of the round handle for hazardous area door identification. Both levers use the same Tubular round cylindrical profile and the same KIL cylinder format, and both cover the same range of keyed ND Series and ALX Series outside lever functions. The 03-231-TLR is the correct selection for all standard Tubular KIL lever positions. The 03-231-8TR applies only where the tactile designation was originally specified. Verify the original specification before ordering to avoid a mismatched trim assembly.

NDE Series Coverage Note

The 03-231-TLR is documented in four Service Manuals: ALX, ND, AD, and CO. The NDE Series is not in the formal compatibility list. This is consistent with the Tubular lever pattern across all Schlage lever format families. The standard Tubular lever does not cover NDE applications in any format. For NDE exit device outside trim positions that originally used a Tubular KIL lever and reference 03-331-TLR, confirm the correct current specification through the NDE Series Service Manual before ordering.

Ten finishes are available: 605 (Bright Brass), 606 (Satin Brass), 612 (Satin Bronze), 613 (Oil Rubbed Bronze), 619 (Satin Nickel), 622 (Matte Black), 625 (Bright Chrome), 626 (Satin Chrome), 626AM (Satin Chrome Antimicrobial), and 643E (Aged Bronze).
