Knurled Tactile Rhodes Lever for Sargent 6-Pin KIL Applications

The 03-244-8RO is the Rhodes Tactile version within the 03-244 Sargent 6-pin KIL prep family. Per the SecurityParts.com product page: "It is designed for a 6-pin Sargent Key-in-Lever (KIL) cylinder." The primary function is confirmed as "Accommodates a Sargent conventional 6-pin cylinder core for manual latch retraction while providing physical notification for visually impaired users." The knurled tactile grooves are located on the back of the handle and provide detectable tactile feedback required by IBC and ADAAG for doors to hazardous or restricted areas.

The lever bore is prepared for a Sargent conventional 6-pin KIL cylinder, which is distinct from standard Schlage KIL cylinder prep (03-231 prefix), Corbin Russwin KIL prep (03-234 prefix), and all interchangeable core formats. A compatible Sargent conventional 6-pin KIL cylinder must be sourced separately and installed in the field.

The 03-244-8RO and the 03-244-8AT (Athens Tactile Lever, Sargent KIL 6-Pin) are both tactile levers in the 03-244 Sargent KIL format. Both use knurled tactile grooves, ship less cylinder, cover the same four series, and are documented in the same four Service Manuals. The only difference is the lever profile design. The 03-244-8RO uses the Rhodes design. When a building uses Rhodes levers as its established standard and requires the Sargent 6-pin KIL cylinder configuration with a tactile designation, the 03-244-8RO is the correct lever.
