Tubular Profile in the Sargent KIL Format

The 03-244-TLR uses the Tubular lever profile in the 03-244 Sargent 6-pin KIL format. The primary function is confirmed as "Accommodates a Sargent conventional cylinder core for manual latch retraction." The Tubular lever maintains a uniform round cylindrical cross-section from hub to handle tip, which is visually distinct from the Athens, Rhodes, Sparta, and Omega designs in the Schlage ND and ALX Series catalog. Per the FAQ: "It is a genuine OEM tubular outside lever prepared for a 6-pin Sargent Key-in-Lever (KIL) cylinder." A compatible Sargent conventional 6-pin KIL cylinder must be sourced separately. The cylinder is not included.

Standard vs Tactile: 03-244-TLR vs 03-244-8TR

The 03-244-TLR is the standard non-tactile Tubular Sargent KIL lever. The 03-244-8TR is the tactile version with knurled tactile grooves on the round handle for ADA hazardous area identification. Both accept a Sargent conventional 6-pin KIL cylinder and ship less cylinder. The 03-244-8TR is documented in two Service Manuals (ALX and ND only). The 03-244-TLR covers AD, CO, ALX, and ND Series per the product page. When replacing a standard Tubular Sargent KIL lever, confirm the original did not specify the tactile designation before ordering the 03-244-TLR.

Comparison With Other Standard 03-244 Sargent KIL Levers

Within the standard non-tactile 03-244 Sargent KIL lever family, the 03-244-ATH (Athens) and 03-244-RHO (Rhodes) are each documented with three legacy part numbers covering cylindrical, mortise, and exit device applications, and both include NDE Series compatibility. The 03-244-TLR and the 03-244-SPA (Sparta) each list one legacy number and cover four series without NDE. When NDE Series coverage or mortise and exit device legacy number documentation are required for a Sargent KIL lever, the 03-244-ATH or 03-244-RHO provide those. The 03-244-TLR is the correct selection when the Tubular profile is the facility standard for AD, CO, ALX, or ND Series Sargent KIL installations.
