Per the SecurityParts.com product page, the 03-277-8SP is "a genuine OEM Sparta-style exterior lever with a tactile warning grip, less cylinder, designed for Schlage commercial electronic and mechanical locksets utilizing a Sargent Full Size Interchangeable Core (FSIC / J-SAR) 6-pin cylinder." The knurled tactile grooves on the back of the handle meet ADA compliance for hazardous or restricted areas. Per the FAQ: "This lever will not accept standard Key-in-Lever cylinders or Schlage-branded interchangeable cores. It is uniquely machined to seat the specific physical sizing and locking lug paths of a Sargent FSIC system." A compatible Sargent FSIC (J-SAR) 6-pin core must be sourced separately.

03-277-8SP vs 03-277-8AT and 03-277-8RO: Sparta Within the Tactile Family

The 03-277-8SP, 03-277-8AT (Athens Tactile), and 03-277-8RO (Rhodes Tactile) are all tactile levers in the 03-277 Sargent FSIC format. All three are Available (3-4 weeks) at the same price, all supply less cylinder, and all are documented in the same four Service Manuals. The only difference is the lever profile. The 03-277-8SP uses the Sparta design. When a building uses Sparta levers as its established standard and the installed core is a Sargent FSIC with a tactile designation required, the 03-277-8SP is the correct lever. Per the FAQ: "It is compatible across Schlage's premium heavy-duty mechanical and electronic platforms, including ND Series cylindrical locks, ALX Series modular locks, as well as AD and CO Series electronic access control systems."

The 03-277-8SP is compatible with AD Series, CO Series, ALX Series, and ND Series locks configured for Sargent FSIC J-SAR cores. Ten finishes are listed: 605 (Bright Brass), 606 (Satin Brass), 612 (Satin Bronze), 613 (Oil Rubbed Bronze), 619 (Satin Nickel), 622 (Matte Black), 625 (Bright Chrome), 626 (Satin Chrome), 626AM (Satin Chrome Antimicrobial), and 643E (Aged Bronze).
