The Schlage 194555261914 is the L9580 motorized latch retraction chassis configured with both the Request to Exit (RX) switch and the Latchbolt Monitor (LX) switch included from the factory. It's the storeroom function, which means the outside lever is always fixed, the inside lever is always free for immediate egress, and a key outside manually retracts the latchbolt. Motorized retraction lets the latch release electrically on signal. This is the most complete mortise lock configuration in the Schlage L9580 family because both monitoring outputs ship ready to wire, with no field-add modules required.

Why Both RX and LX Together Matter on This Configuration

Most access control deployments on a storeroom opening need two distinct signals: confirmation that someone is exiting from the inside, and real-time status of whether the latch is retracted or extended. These are not the same data point and they come from two separate switches.

The RX switch detects rotation of the inside lever via a microswitch built into the lock case. When someone activates the inside lever to exit, the RX sends a signal to your access control panel, triggering door position logging, disabling the alarm on egress, or releasing a paired door on the secure side. Without RX, the panel has no reliable way to distinguish a legitimate inside exit from a door-forced-open event.

The LX switch monitors the physical latch position, reporting whether the bolt is extended (door latched) or retracted (latch held open by power signal or key). Normally open, normally closed, and common connections are provided, each rated at 2A and 30V DC. This data feeds door status dashboards, integrates with building automation systems, and supports code-required monitoring on certain occupancies. Together, RX and LX give the access control system complete visibility into this opening at all times, without any additional field wiring into the lock case after installation.

Schlage l9580 Technical Specifications

This chassis runs on 24 VDC only. AC power must not be used. The acceptable input voltage range is 21.6 VDC to 28 VDC. Peak current draw during latch retraction is 1.4 amps, and the holding current once the latch is open drops to 0.10 amps. The case is cold-rolled steel with corrosion-resistant zinc dichromate plating, measuring 4-7/16 inches by 6-1/16 inches by 1 inch (113mm x 154mm x 25mm). Lever-to-cylinder spacing is 3-7/8 inches (98mm). Operating temperature range is 32°F to 120°F (0°C to 49°C), with a maximum relative humidity of 85%.

Standard door thickness is 1-3/4 inches (44mm), with a minimum of 1-3/8 inches (35mm). Doors up to 4 inches thick are supported using EE, EI, EO, or ED door position specifications. The chassis is non-handed and works on either hand without modification.

The L9580 ships with a factory-installed Allegion Connect Molex connector for quick-connect harness installation using electrified hinges or electric power transfers. If traditional wire splicing is preferred, the Molex connector can be removed and the included 6-inch harness used as the interface instead.

This configuration is the right choice when the project's access control system requires both egress detection and latch status monitoring at the same opening from day one. Storerooms, restricted-access utility rooms, data center doors with robotic delivery access, loading dock personnel entries, and any space where a facilities management dashboard tracks door state in real time are typical applications. Pairing with automatic door operators on the same opening is straightforward since the wiring connects on the same side as the operator harness.
